I really love the powerful message of this poem. I think many of us “live” our lives as if we are on a conveyor belt of monotony.
I can say I have even been on that conveyor belt of life. Living to be safe and hiding in the shadows, but that’s not me anymore.
I live my life as I want. I do things that make me happy. I have the choice and the choices are mine and mine alone.
As I wrote in previous posts, risk is everything.
“I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.”
