Coffee and Conversations: 7:55 PM

~ 7:55 PM ~

“I know about you and Mo,” Ava said as she and Walsh indulged their minds in a game of chess.

Looking to see if Garrett or Porn had heard, he looked at his best friend. “What are you talking about?”

“You’re the reason she swore off men. I saw her in her about two weeks ago.  She was devastated.”

“Did she tell you?”

“Women comfort women. I gave her a shoulder to cry on and she let it slip out who had caused her tears, but she did not tell me why.”

Moving a pawn, Walsh sighed. He didn’t want the three to know about Mo. He really didn’t want anyone to know about his love life. He knew in their eyes he was a slimy weasel but it was now a façade. Years ago, he was more like the weasel. Older and wiser, he was now just ready to settle down with someone he loved. “What did she say?”

“She said you dumped her. How long were you seeing her?”

“A few weeks.”

“How did it happen?”

“I ran into her at a bar. She was kind enough to take me home.”

“And you were kind enough to take off her pants.”

Checking again to see if the other two were listening, he sighed. “Can you keep it down?”

“Why didn’t you tell anyone?”

“Because I didn’t want anyone to know.”

“Why? She’s a great woman.”

“She’s not a woman.”

“Seriously Walsh.”

“She wasn’t born a woman. She’s transgender.”

“What?” Ava asked not believing the words coming out of his mouth.

“When she took me home the first night, she was all about the oral.”

“I don’t want to know this.”

“Too bad. You brought it up.”

“Fine.” Ava had to admit she was intrigued by his story.

“We went out a couple of times after that night and I was like she’s cool so why not pursue it. Granted, I had no clue who she really was.”

“No sex?”

“None. It was crazy. She just wanted to perform oral on me.”

“You didn’t think that was weird?”

“Of course, I thought it was weird, but it wasn’t as if I was thinking with the head that had a brain in it.”

“So, what happened?”

“Fooling around I asked her what I could do to please her and she said pleasing me was enough.”

“Alarm bells ringing?”

Walsh nodded. “I pushed the subject and she confessed that her upper and lower body didn’t quite match.”

“You didn’t believe her?”

“I didn’t get it at the time.”

“She showed you, didn’t she?”

“In so many words.”

“What happened?”

“I freaked out on her.”

“Walsh, I can’t believe you didn’t tell me.”

“Do you know what grief you guys would give me for hurting Mo? Hell no. I’d rather just keep that secret for the rest of my life. Besides, it’s Mo’s secret too. I can’t expose her that way. Not without her permission. I know you all think I’m an asshole, but Mo’s our friend. I would not hurt her that way.”

Ava sighed. Now she understood why Mo never let them set her up with anyone.  “Have you had sex with anyone since then?”

“That night. I just went out and fucked whatever blonde I could find.”

“I’m sorry.”

“They can’t know.”

“Promise,” Ava replied and meant it. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah. I actually apologized to her for freaking out of her apartment.”

“What did she say?”

“She said she was sorry for being dishonest.”

“She’s had a crush on you, hasn’t she?”

Walsh nodded. “She said she saw how I was with Porn and thought it would be a safe pursuit. We talked things through and we’re good. Friends again.”

“Hey, you two,” Porn said from the hideous green couch. “We’re thinking of ordering a pizza from across the street. You in?”

“Sure,” they both answered.

Walsh nodded. “Since the nights on me, I’ll go get it when it’s ready.”

“Sweet,” Porn answered and began to dial.
