SONG: “Never Surrender”
ARTIST: Corey Hart
I was 9 when this song was released. NINE YEARS OLD. I liked the song back then of course. I didn’t know what it meant, but it sounded cool. It wasn’t until my oldest niece was born that I really connected with this song. I wanted to make sure she had music in her life that she could turn to if she ever needed inspiration or if she ever got lost in life or god forbid had any sort of battle with depression. So I made her a list of songs that either would be of help, inspiration, motivation and so on. “Never Surrender” made the mix for her and it still makes the mix for me. I have always loved the lyric “No one can take away your right to fight and never surrender…” It might not be as inspiring as Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent,” but it still is inspiring to me to always fight for your dreams, for what you believe in, and what you love. No one should ever give up on their dreams or love because someone says they have to. One should only give up on their dreams/love when they have physically, mentally, emotionally exhausted ever path to obtain that dream and then it should be your decision if you want to give up or your decision if you want to never surrender the dream.
