Standing in the morning dark with about 50,00 thousand runners and spectators combined, this song came on as I stood in my corral waiting for my time to start my first half marathon.
If you would have asked me if Eminem would ever bring tears to my eyes, I would have laughed at you, but as that song filed through the noise of runners and onlookers, a lump formed in my throat and tears hugged my eyes. I was about to run a half marathon. Holy shit. All the training in the world didn’t seem like enough. I was nervous. I was scared. I wanted to vomit. I wanted to quit. I wanted to crawl back into bed and sleep.
But this song kept me in my corral and made me want to start and finish the half marathon.
