Songs of My Life: July 2015

July was just July. Nothing crazy happened. Nothing bad happen. It seemed too long and it seemed too short. I was madly inspired by friends (thank you Amy and to Melissa & Chris). July was just what it was and I’m okay with that.

I’ve always loved the vibes of this song. It just captures the essence and spirit of sun and summer.

“Brothers of the Mountain” by LANKS
Super stoked to have LANKS’ “Banquet” EP in my music loving hands. So glad I stumbled upon his music on Soundcloud. I have been a fan since. This song is my favorite song from the EP. I really just love the poetry of the music in this song. Pick up “Banquet” on iTunes.

“Bloody History” by Stokeswood
Honestly, I should have put the whole “2075” EP as part of my Songs of My Life for June and July because I have listened to the EP at least once a day, if not more, since I bought it. If you don’t know how much I love this EP, read here. This song though, is on here as it became my running song and it will now forever be tied into spending 4th of July being giant kids at White Water Center with some of the best people I know: Emily Beth, Suzanne, Ronnie & Scott and of course getting to see Stokeswood live on America’s birthday. “Sleeping Good Tonight” by Donavon Frankenreiter
Another bonus of 4th of July, getting to see Donavon live. This is a brand spanking new song from his album“The Heart” (out on August 4th), you can pre-order it on iTunes. This song is just a reminder to let go of the day and be done with it…“but I’m done running, tripping on my feet, yeah I’m done jumping in every hoop in front of me and the world, she might, want to pick a fight, but I’ll be sleeping good tonight…”

“11:59” by Michael Franti & Spearhead
This song came into my life again via a Periscope session that Michael did. I had a pretty long day at work and caught this song just in time. It was just a reminder to believe…“That’s why so many people stand up and say: One love, one blood, one heart, one soul and one drum and only one rhythm, One tribe and all of us singing…”

B) I loved their “Weight of You Love” album. So much that I still listen to it on a regular basis. I have super high hopes for their new album “In Dreams” (out on Oct 2nd)
