Songs of My Life: December 2018

songs of my life December 2018

Another year down…all I can say is that I am glad I am not where January 2018 started. I am in a happier place in my personal, professional and spiritual life and I cannot wait to see what amazing things 2019 brings my way. The songs this month were about loving more, hating less, standing up for what is right, spreading positivity, and believing in myself. This is a playlist I’m happy to end the year on.

Listen on Apple Music or Spotify

“Love & Do Not Hesitate” by David McMillin
Possibly my favorite song by David and I think it was a perfect start to December. As he sings “good shows up in the mailboxes of those who love and do not hesitate…” Love more. Hate less.

“Unfuck the World” by Prophets of Rage
The title says it all. We need to unfuck everything we’ve fucked up. Looking mostly at my home country. Everyone outside of the US thinks we’re a bunch of fucktards and I can’t blame them. “No hatred, fuck racists. Blank faces, time’s changin’. One nation, unification. The vibration, unfuck the world!”

“Reaching from Nowhere” by Milla
I’ve always loved this album by Milla and it still stands the test of time. She’s not just a model or actress but a great singer and songwriter too. This song is on here as a reminder how much I appreciate her music.

“King of the Gutter” by The Constellations
More new music from The Constellations! Love this song! Great lyrics and beat. These lyrics: “I’m too hard to live and too weird to die. I fell from the top and hit the bottom just fine. I’m the king of the gutter but a slave to the grind, I’ve been down so low, might as well get high…”

“Rusty Hammer” by Xavier Rudd & the United Nations
Just a little positivity and love to light your way! These lyrics: “If I’m bringing my soul to ya, bet ya money there’s a reason I believe. Building with a rusty hammer. Standing strong in the things that I’ve seen. If I’m bringing my soul to ya, coming at you with truth in my eyes. Building with a rusty hammer. Strong feeling everything gonna be just fine.”

“Headspin” by Rock Star Supernova
This song spun into the list on a rainy Sunday afternoon and it so matched the mood perfectly.

“Becoming the Bull” by Atreyu
I just freaking love this song. I could easily listen to it on repeat for hours on end.

“The Resolution” by Jack’s Mannequin
Have always loved this song. Always will. These lyrics: “I’m alive and I don’t need a witness to know that I survived.  I’m not looking for forgiveness. I just need light. I need light in the dark as I search for the resolution.”

“Method Man” by Wu-Tang Clan
My favorite Wu-Tang Clan song. Got to see them at the Sydney Opera House this month. It was my first ever show there and it was pretty damn rad.

“…To Be Loved” by Papa Roach
While I might have not been the biggest fan of their debut album, every album afterwards I have dug. I’ve been working out and working with a personal trainer since the end of November. I’ve done really well in changing my unhealthy habits, but there were moments when I wanted to give up. These lyrics reminded me to not quit. “I never give in. I never give up…”

“Don’t Fail Me Now” by Ryan Adams & the Cardinals
This was the song I sang to myself when I could feel myself wanting to return to unhealthy habits and crappy food. I sang these lyrics to myself more than a few times: “Just don’t fail me now. You don’t do me right. You don’t do me right. Why you do me wrong when the rope gets tight…”

“The Other Side” by Unkle featuring Tom Smith
If Tom Smith is singing it. I’m gong to listen and more than likely love it. This song is no exception. I LOVE THIS SONG. It is sheer perfection.

“Stardust” by Willie Nelson
You can’t go wrong with Willie Nelson and while I can’t remember the exact reason I added this song, I do love it so.

“Dark Light” by HIM
I added this song because there people who come into your life that become a source of light and positivity. And this song reminded of those souls that are that light.

“Untouchable Face” by Ani DiFranco
Possibly my favorite Ani song. I just love the story in this song.
