Songs of My Life – July 2011

Lucky by Sponge
I have always, always, loved this song. This song is one my favorites by one of my favorite bands. My favorite lyrics in the song, “This little penny is to dream on. To make all your wishes come true…”

Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder
Who couldn’t love this song! Especially with the lyrics, “Ain’t nothin’ gonna to break my stride. Nobody’s gonna slow me down, oh-no. I got to keep on movin’. Ain’t nothin’ gonna break my stride. I’m running and I won’t touch ground. Oh-no, I got to keep on movin’.”

Time To Go Home by Michael Franti & Spearhead
I heard this song on the roof top of The Gin Mill and I just loved the music but listening to the lyrics, just made me dig it more.

Dance Like Nobody’s Watching by Donavon Frakenreiter
I love Donavon Frankenreiter and this song is signature Donavon. Catchy, dance, and just down right great.

Lady Luck by Jamie Woon
Free song on iTunes.

Blackout by Breathe Carolina
Another free song on iTunes but this one is damn catchy. I have an audio soft spot for pop-rock.

The Pot by Tool
My favorite Tool song.

Bullet In My Hand by Redlight King
I heard this song when the band played in the studio and the sing Kaz said to the audience, “It’s about coming through to the other side.” I really love the lyrics “I came out of the darkness with a bullet in my hand. I got one more shot at living and I’m lucky that I can.” I’ve had my share of living in the darkness and back then, I wish I had a song like this to light the way. Watch the 1065 END Session performance.

Closer To The Edge by Burlap to Cashmere
I know many who know me will roll their eyes and say she just likes this song because the title is the same as the 30STM title, but alas it is not true. I first became aware of who Burlap to Cashmere was when I saw them play Carolina Music Fest or whatever it was called in 1998 or 1999 and I went out and bought every CD I could find. Then the band disappeared as quickly as they appeared on my radar. Welcome new CD in July of 2011. Still the same band I remembered and still the great sound as well. Soulful and spiritual.

Cover Girl by Saints of Valory
Great and up beat song. The lyrics, “when life gets crazy, shake it baby” has become my new motto. Love this song.
