Songs of My Life: June 2014

It’s amazing how much your life changes when you change environments. Mister Jimmy Buffett nailed it perfectly with the “changes in latitude, changes in attitude” mentality and lyrically. Before moving I often searched for life meanings in song and after song, after moving, I almost feared never finding a meaning in a song again, but I was reminded by The Universe that wasn’t the case. As much as it was here for me with songs, I was finally at a place inside my head and heart where the search wasn’t needed. Now I am gifted the message of a song. Each gift from The Universe to let me know I am continually on the path I am to be on…that following my songline is always the right thing to do.

“I Look Fuckin’ Cool” by Adore Delano featuring Alaska Thunderfuck
I must start the June with the most infectious song of 2014 so far from the one and only Miss Adore Delano from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6. She slowly made her way to be one of my favorite of the season and this song is just fun and has some of the catchiest lyrics ever. “Had you from the beginning, I’m playing dumb and winning…Dirt poor, but spirit wealthy. Dead battery from selfies…Unnatural disaster, we’re team Adore Alaska…”

“Starstruck” by Lady GaGa featuring Flo Rida and Space Cowboy
This song was an earworm that stuck with me for more days than I could count…“Groove. Slam. Work it back. Filter that. Baby bump that track…Put your hands on my waist pull the fader. Run it back with original flavor. Get the breakdown first. Up until the chorus. To the verse…”

“No Need to Worry” by Mishka
The lyrics for this song speak for itself. “No need, no need to worry. Just take it slow. No need, no need to worry. Cause you’re already in the flow…”[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPHsxTT-aLE?rel=0]

“To Let” by Xavier Rudd
I adore this man. I will watch him in concert on any given day of the week no matter where I am at. If he’s in a 3 state radius, I’ll go see him if the Universe allows me. Musically, this song just connected with my soul on a spiritual level this month and it was even before I got to see Xavier perform it live in Asheville, NC  on June 21st.

“This is Life” by Jake Evans
I stumbled upon this artist while writing for my music focused site 16 Clefs and have thoroughly enjoyed following Jake on his musical journey. “This is Life” is a catchy song and I love the lyrics “I look to the heavens and I hear a symphony. You can live just how you want, but don’t tell me…”
