June was about release.
Releasing expectations I had set for myself.
Releasing things I might have been holding on too.
Just letting go.
It was kicked off by a wonderful yoga retreat in Bali where each day was just about being.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
Listen on Apple Music (missing songs)
Listen on Spotify
“Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley & The Wailers
As I sat on a black sand beach in Bali for the first week of June, this song playing from somewhere reminded me everything was going to be all right.
“Unexamined Life” by Stokeswood
In the same message, this song by ATL’s Stokeswood was just another reminder to be.
“American Dream” by J.S. Ondara
While having breakfast, I heard this song overhead. It just fit the cold and sunny morning. So much I stalked the owner to find out the name of the song.
“Low (feat. T-Pain)” by Flo Rida
This month’s overhead gym music on Tuesdays has been 00’s pop but I love Flo Rida so I didn’t mind this song at all.
“Death’s Hand” by The Amity Affliction
I don’t remember why I added this song, but I’ve always liked the lyrics and the message of someone who’s met death but didn’t give up.
“I Release” by Gareth Asher & The Earthlings
A song about release. Could have been the entire theme song for June.
“3 Roads” by Xavier Rudd
One of my favourite songs by Xavier. I always feel my soul at peace when listening to it.
“Loving You” by Nikka Costa
On a rainy Sunday this tune was perfection.
“Come Undone” by Duran Duran
I will always love this song. It’s moody. It’s perfect.
“Dots and Dashes (Enough Already)” by Silversun Pickups
The bass line in this song is to die for.
“Take it Easy” by Eagles
Words of wisdom…take it easy.
“It’s Not Right but it’s Okay” by Whitney Houston
And on Thursdays the overhead music in the gym has been R&B remixes. But this is the original as Miss Whitney sang it.
“Tiger Lotus” by Sound Ambassador
This song played in a yoga class and I completely fell in love with it. It’s just peaceful and relaxing.
