Throwback Thursday: “Love Lockdown”

Thursdays mean Throwback Thursday with a twist…a cover plus a throwback. Even though I may not be a KAYNE WEST fan or should I say a big KAYNE WEST fan, I do like his song “Love Lockdown” and the cover by GLASS ANIMALS is pretty solid. Throwback Thursday: “The Pretender”

This week’s Throwback Thursday is “The Pretender” as covered by EVA PLAYS DEAD from the UK. Composed of Tiggy Dockerty (Vocals), Matt Gascoyne (Guitar), Zach Shannon (Bass) and Seb Boyse (Drums). The foursome are not strangers to hard work and relaunched under EVA PLAYS DEAD in January 2013 to suit who they are now. Check out their cover of “The Pretender” by FOO FIGHTERS that they recorded … Continue reading Throwback Thursday: “The Pretender”

THROWBACK THURSDAY: “Round and Round”

When Ryan Adams covers classic songs from the metal era of the 80’s he manages to make them absolutely fantastic and he takes the classic hit “Round and Round” by Ratt and makes it a beautiful and heartfelt song which is why he’s this week’s Throwback Thursday Cover song. THROWBACK THURSDAY: “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover”

We are huge fan of Throwback Thursdays here, especially if we can find a cover of a classic and we stumbled onto G Love covering the Simon & Garfunkel classic “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” live at the Visulite Theatre in Charlotte, NC in March 2011. Fun. Enjoy…Happy Thursday G Love: Facebook | Twitter | Website [soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/81274901″ params=”color=00aabb&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /] Continue reading THROWBACK THURSDAY: “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover”

THROWBACK THURSDAY: “Enjoy the Silence”

This week’s Thowback Thursday cover is “Enjoy the Silence” Echotape. We’d feature this band every TBT with their cover songs if we didn’t think it might be slight overkill and seem like favoritism, but we like their covers. They’re fun and the band is good. THROWBACK THURSDAY: “In the Air Tonight”

Holly’s voice takes this song to another place and time. She does such a brilliant cover of this song by Phil Collins that I truly don’t have the words to express how good it is so I’ll let her voice and this cover speak for itself. If you stumble upon the album LIVE STUFF, you’ll be able to grab this for yourself and I recommend this … Continue reading THROWBACK THURSDAY: “In the Air Tonight”

THROWBACK THURSDAY: “Istanbul, Not Constantinople”

This week’s Throwback Thursday cover should have been called: MIND COMPLETELY BLOWN! How have I not known that They Might be Giants wasn’t the  original band that sang “Istanbul, Not Constantinople”? Totally thought they were the originators but it was a group called The Lads. So we give you the They Might be Giants version put to the visuals of Tiny Toons and the original! … Continue reading THROWBACK THURSDAY: “Istanbul, Not Constantinople”

THROWBACK THURSDAY: “Southern Cross”

This week’s Throwback Thursday is Jimmy Buffett covering Crosby Stills and Nash’s “Southern Cross”. This song is the essence of island time and we here at 16 Clefs are currently on island time (vacation) but working hard for you that follow us as well. We hope this song will take you away from wherever you are mentally and give you a moment of refrain from … Continue reading THROWBACK THURSDAY: “Southern Cross”

Throwback Thursday: “Pale Blue Eyes”

In my eyes, The Kills can do no wrong and their cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes” is signature The Kills and an absolute smart and brilliant cover. The cover of “Pale Blue Eyes” was one of the b-sides to The Kills’ single “The Last Goodbye” that was from their last album BLOOD PRESSURES.
