As a writer and as a person who creates, I’ve tried to surround myself with people who are supportive of my creativity. Friends and family often always offer support of various levels and then there are the souls of people who lift you above and carry you through times of staring at blank screens and empty canvases. You don’t notice them immediately. You may never notice them at all, but if you get the chance to see them and their love and support, it will undoubtedly move you to a better place. A place that you may not know you needed to be.
I was given a gift of inspiration from two friends who I adore, love, and am very grateful to have in my life. Their friendship and their families have brought me smile upon smile. The gift was a print from Edward Gorey titled “Dracula and Lucy.” Given to me to help inspire and create my own vampire world they know I am working on.
Not only did the gift become an instant prized possession, it became an inspiration. Not to only create and write, but to share their love and support. Their thoughtful Christmas gift moved me to a place I didn’t know I needed to be. Moved me to not only create for myself but for them.
I am forever grateful for their gift. I am more grateful for their friendship, their support, and their inspiration. I am truly blessed to have Holly and her family and Chris and his family in my life. My life is better because of it. My creativity is thriving from it and the world is a better place because their souls have touched the Earth.
So thank you Holly and Chris for giving me the best Christmas I could have received and for being not only beautiful friends but beautiful inspirations.
