desert highway

dusty desert highway
heat waves dancing in the air
the shells of remains laid threadbare
nothing more to say
nothing more to share
the demons inside the devil’s lair
the hounds were no longer at bay
I didn’t care
it wasn’t fair
no difference between night and day
when the dead lay everywhere
