Friday the 13th

A lot of people dread Friday the 13th. They think black cats crossing their paths, walking under ladders, and all the horrible things that could happen to them.

In reality, all those horrible things could happen any day of the year and your chances don’t increase on Friday the 13th.

For me, Friday the 13th, has always been a spectacular day. A day filled with greatness and magic.

One of my favorite memories of Friday the 13th was when I was in the 10th grade and I got to see and meet my favorite bands. Many moons later, I became friends with one of the band members and I got to share this memory with him. Being in the 10th grade and getting to see/meet one of your favorite bands was a big deal and hell, it’s still a big deal to me.

Here is 13 reasons why this Friday, July 13, 2012 has also been wonderful:
1. Breakfast with my Dad – he’s a long haul truck driver and I don’t get to see him a lot. We text every day but it’s not the same as having him sit across from me.
2. Watching Sponge on Fox Detroit – this band’s album Rotting Pinata saved my life and I will always be honored to work with them as long as they let me work with them.
3. I finally booked my room for one of my favorite person on the planet’s wedding in August. I cannot wait to see the wonderful Miss Ali-Cat walk down the isle.
4. I got my ticket to see Xavier Rudd in Asheville, NC. Would have Atlanta too, but Ticketmaster’s site blows chunks. I’ll just have to buy in Atlanta when I’m in town for the wedding in August.
5. Surprise shuffle impromptu office dance song on iPod: “Wake Me Up” by Wham
6. Ice cream swirl cone at Jason’s Deli
7. Completing 5 days straight of walking/running at least 3.2 miles.
8. It rained, cooling off the day and making my 3.2 mile run not nearly as sweaty as it would have been.
9. My dog, Nick. I love that little knucklehead.
10. Today was payday!
11. Dirty martinis
12. Seeing some of my favorite people at The Gin Mill
13. It’s freaking FRIDAY!
