Knowing It Might Be Your Last Chance

What if the moment you shared with someone was there last? What would you do different if you could?

My dad and his best friend are huge Nascar fans and I got my dad tickets to the race next weekend. My dad sent me a text thanking me and said, it was probably going to be the last race he could attend with his best friend. His best friend is battling cancer. The outcome is what it is with cancer. Never good unless a miracle happens.

It made me think, would this race be any different for the two of them? Would they stay until all the cars emptied the parking lot? Would they sit in their seats in silence but speaking a thousand words between them?

Or would they go on being the way the two of them always are? Talking about the cancer, enjoying the laughter and friendship just like it was another day.

My bet, is the latter of the two.

They don’t expect it to be any different than anything else they have shared. It is what it is. Two friends enjoying a sport they love.
