My goal of late 2008 was to focus on ONE project and finish it vs. focusing on 4 and barely attaining finishing. Today, as I sat, stared, and thought about my current cast of characters of the story I am letting unfold, I shoved it aside and decided to write something for a contest instead. It of course goes completely against the goal, but it was productive. All I need was a maximum of 2000 words to submit and I’m sitting pretty at 1322 right now. I’ve taken a break because I need to decide on the ending. Two versions are in my head, but alas only one will be written.

So though it was a pesky distraction it was productive one. It’s made me aware of the urgency to finish the 2008 project so I can write the 2009 project (or at least finish 1 of many 2009 projects.)

In 2009, I will shine!
