Wednesday’s Random Thoughts

Warning: this blog post is one random thought after another.

HOCKEY:
Really thought the Kings were going to sweep the Devils tonight, but then again it’s hockey and its playoff hockey so those guarantees are never safe bets. How sweet would it have been for Kings fans. I personally don’t care who wins since both my favorite teams are out of the playoffs. If I had to pick a team, it would be the Kings. The underdogs that swept the Western conference. With tonight’s win, the Playoffs go into Game 5. I am not ready to be without hockey, so I will take the Devils win tonight for a few more days of hockey.
Though the hockey season never truly ends, watching games does…at least after the Playoffs, I have the NHL draft, trading frenzy, NHL Awards and pre-season fun…I just have to live without for about 2.5 months give or take.

FIRE ALARMS:
God bless them for existing but really wish they would only go off WHEN THERE IS AN ACTUAL FIRE. Can someone fix that in my apartment building. #PleaseAndThankYou

FRIENDS:
I’m amazed by the strengths of some of my friends, especially my friend Amy. It takes a strong person to say, I’m not okay and even stronger person to realize that some friendships aren’t healthy while she’s healing. It takes a strong person to exorcise her past and move forward to a happier, healthier, and brighter future.

SOCIAL MEDIA:
Facebook – It amazes me and I mean it utterly amazes me what a toilet bowl of hatred Facebook is and perpetuates. Through my big girl job, this week, I have gotten to see the lowest common denominator of people and the negativity they spew. Facebook has become the playground that MySpace became when Facbook was born. The place for teens and the elderly to post.
Twitter – I have never been a fan of Facebook, Twitter on the other hand, I am an avid Twitterer. I told several friends that if Facebook is the McDonald’s of Social Media, then Twitter is the Ruth’s Chris of Social Media. I’m sure there is negativity and hatred spewed on there as well but it doesn’t seem like it festers and spread.
I wish people could use social media and the media in general to spread positivity and good. Yes the world is filled with both but if we put half the energy politics put into promoting half truths and lies into promoting full truths and positivity, I bet the world would be a little better.

JIMMY BUFFETT:
Going to my, I lost count because I’ve been to too many shows, tomorrow. I am so looking forward to forgetting about the world for several hours and letting the master story teller take me to a sunny and tropical place with a margarita in my hand.

XAVIER RUDD:
The new Xavier Rudd “Spirit Bird” is amazing. Go buy it right now. It’s spiritually, emotionally, and mentally fantastic. He does such a wonderful job at capturing the beauty of the world in his music and lyrics. (Full review coming later)
