I posted this on Facebook on October 1, 2016 and it popped up in my FB memory yesterday and it’s still relevant so I wanted to share it on here as well.

Long FB rant here and I usually don’t do this as I’m a person who believes in spreading Universal light ❤️ & magic ✨ and not negativity but I am feeling a little aggravated and really am starting to question the reasons why I am friends with people and have family who support hate, bigotry, misogyny, racism, and inequality. I’m embarrassed to know women who will support a misogynistic and hate spewing businessman bafoon over a hard working mother, lawyer, senator, and Secretary of State who has/had/still changes the lives of children for the best. I’m embarrassed to know men who says she lies and can’t be trusted yet they are completely okay with the other breaking state and federal laws and cheating on his wife.

I was born and raised in the South. In the South, it sometimes seems that hate, bigotry, misogyny, racism, and inequality spread like kudzu overnight. My own grandparents told my dad not to come home from the Vietnam war when he married a “non white woman” but they were able to see past my mother’s Thai race and love her for the wonderful woman she was (and so did everyone else in his family). She became so close to my grandma, she called her “Mama” and nothing else. I was called every ethnic slur growing up because I was a halfie (Asian/American) and let’s not even begin the name calling I heard just because I was a girl! I’ve witnessed crosses being burned by spineless and coward grown men who hid behind sheets of white in the name of race and religion. I’ve sat in a church and had bible quotes misused to justify abuse and hate.

The pills of hate, bigotry, misogyny, racism and inequality are always there and so many educated and uneducated Americans swallow them blindly without thought. I might not have a college degree but it doesn’t take a god damn degree to know that hate, bigotry, misogyny, racism and inequality do not belong anywhere in this Universe.

What does belong in this Universe is love and kindness.

I am beyond blessed to have been raised by my mom and dad to see the world through their eyes:

-all human blood is red

-love who you want to love

-skin is just a color from the crayon box

-fight for those who need a voice

-lend a hand even if you don’t have a dime to your name because that hand means more than money

-what religion you believe is only your business and that you must remember it is someone’s interpretation or version of texts written so don’t take it as the “truth” and don’t twist it to judge or justify actions of others you disagree with or don’t understand

-most of all, everyone of every race, religion, and sex is equal to each other and we all want the same things when we lay our heads down to sleep at night and that is to know we are loved and can wake up the next morning without fear but with even more love and kindness inside of us than the day before.
