Drag Queen Love

This is post is mainly for me. Sorry. I’m not sorry. I love me some drag queens and I am addicted to RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race Untucked, RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race, and when it was on, RuPaul’s Drag U. Having said this post is for me, it’s just a form for me to talk about things when I think no one else will listen.

First up…a big congratulations to Bob the Drag Queen on winning RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8. This wasn’t my favorite season of the show. It was a tad boring at times and too nice, but it still inspired me. Michelle Visage’s message to Chi Chi Devayne still gives me chills: “Nourish that magic in you. Let people help. That’s how we learn about ourselves. That’s how we grow as humans.” Then there’s this wonderful quote from Bob, “I have this mentality that says everything works out in the end & if it’s not working out, it’s not the end.” and let’s not forget Mama Ru and her infinite wisdom, “Staying true to your own unique frequency; taking those cues from the Universe & applying them but without losing who you are.” My nieces often get these words of wisdom spat out to them when they need motivation and inspiration because it is sage advice for anyone. That’s why I encourage my oldest niece to watch the show. Wisdom and some killer makeup tips (she loves makeup).

Drag now has DragCon as well. (Gagging!) I wanted to make it this year (it’s 2nd annual event), but I am in Australia and well, no matter my love for the queens, my love for Australia is more, but had I been in the States, my vacation days would have went towards DragCon. No questions asked.

RuPaul also announced there would be a 2nd season of RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race! Praise whatever higher being you want here. I am beyond stoked for this and my brain started a wish list of queens I’d like to see again.

Here’s my list (no particular order and does not include anyone from RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race Season 1 and is based off the number 12 that competed)
Milk
Ivy Winters
Katya
Acid Betty

Adore Delano
BenDeLaCreme
Pearl
Kim Chi
Max

April Carrion
Mrs. Kasha Davis
Ginger Minj

It would be fab to see the likes of Milk and Max battle it out. It would also be great to see April again too. She looks more like a girl than I do on any day. Granted, she puts forth an effort and I struggle to roll out of bed and not stump my toe on anything.

As I close out this post, I leave you with Bob the Drag Queen’s newest single, “Purse First”. She had a gimmick for one episode that stuck for the rest of the season and the marketer in me, thinks capturing the moment and running with it, is pure gold. Pure. Gold.
