I have three beginnings for my WIP (work in progress) that I’m calling Goliath. (This is not the real title, it’s just that it’s my Goliath, my Mount Everest as I said in my post “Following Your Joy“.) I’ve been struggling with which one would be the best beginning for this novel. I have written and tossed out what was written, rewritten and re-tossed out what was written again, and repeated this process more times than I should have.

So how did I find the right beginning, you might ask. Hell, you might not even care, but you’ve read this far, so I’ll share this aha moment from the Universe with you anyway.

I asked the Universe to show me the path I needed to succeed in writing THIS novel.

It showed me in a New Year’s Day episode of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”. Thank goodness for Throwback Thursdays because Bravo was throwing it back with some super old episodes of some of their programs. I saw that there was an “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”, passed on it, but came back to it and by the time the episode ended, the Universe had given me the answer to which beginning to use.

After months and months and thousands upon thousands of words, one episode of one television show that I watched religiously gifted me the answer I needed.

It’s amazing how the muse sees something and goes start here, so I am starting here.
